Stovall released the following statement this morning:
"It's time for the citizens of Texas to be represented by one of their own, a citizen statesman, rather than by a Washington-based elitist who serves special interests that are in opposition to the interests of Texas and its good citizens."
"The Constitutional role of a United States Senator from the Lone Star State is to put the best interests of Texas first."
"During his tenure in the United States Senate, the federal government has continued to relentlessly encroach on the rights of Texas and Texans. When John Cornyn went to Washington as our senator 11 years ago, the federal deficit was $6 trillion. Today, it's $17 trillion, almost triple."
"It's time for that to stop. It's time to represent Texas in Washington, DC, and it's time for the citizens of Texas to be represented by one of them, a citizen statesman, rather than by the nationalist interests of the elites in Washington."
"My campaign will not be won with establishment money. I've traveled across Texas and spoken to thousands of Texans throughout the year. They are fired up at the idea of having two senators representing them in Washington, DC, who believe in the Constitution and America's founding principles."
"Federalism, Republicanism, and limited government - these are sorely lacking from Sen. Cornyn's voting record. I have stepped forward to unapologetically advocate for the values of Texans and for putting Texas first. "
Stovall is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator John Cornyn. Sen. Cornyn is running for re-election to his third six-year term.
Dwayne Stovall is a small businessman from Liberty County in the heart of Texas. He is married to his high school sweetheart of 22 years, and has three children. More information on the candidate and his campaign may be obtained atwww.texansforstovall.com.
